While many people think fitness is only about exercising, fitness is also about the conditions of your health. A health body is active when awake, and it is restful when it’s time to hit the bed but getting a good night's sleep isn’t easy for everyone. According to the HelpGuide.org, there are seven useful tips to to sleep better at night. In this post, I’ve be talking about one large tip I feel is most important.
For a good night’s sleep, try to stick to your body's natural sleep cycle (or the cycle you use day by day for work/school). Your cycle should be followed everyday of the week. Weekends shouldn’t be used to sleep in or stay up late. Doing so will alter your sleep cycle and leave you sleepy during the day, work, or school instead of the night.
Naps are claimed to be a good way to catch up on lost sleep hours, but naps can leave you full of energy during the night. It is best to nap during the middle of day to have them away from disturbing your sleep cycle at night. When a body is consistently thrown off its’ sleep cycle, jet-lag symptoms more often affect the body night after night.
Lastly, if you do feel sleepy in the afternoon, fight it by doing something that stimulates your brain. Falling asleep can leave you fully awake in the middle of the night. Instead of showing contempt for your sleep cycle by laying on the couch or sitting back, get up and move around or try doing a tedious activity for your brain.
