In my previous blog post, I wrote about a tip I found most important to get night’s rest. To not clutter one post with an essay of text, I want to share the next important tip to get as much rest as possible by winding down your thoughts. I used an article about sleep from HelpGuide.org and my own learning experience to hep you clear your head at night.
Sleep is very imperative to one’s health and should be supported by a solid sleep schedule.Worries, stress, and rage caused by a bad day can leave you up at night moving recklessly side to side. A waterfall of thoughts can also result from not being sleepy during bed time. Bothersome thoughts have no place while going to bed.
In order to clear your mind from these negative thoughts, you may need to re-manage your thoughts during bed time.
If there is something you’re worried about, create a period in the day to worry about it. This means to not stress over it until the periods starts. When annoying thoughts flood your mind, try not to react to them and observe them without judgement instead of ignoring, fighting, or controlling these thoughts. You will notice that when you don’t control thoughts, they will pass by like seconds to a clock. One of my go to techniques for a good sleep is to focus on the present. Focus on your body and how it feels as you breath in and out. Relax all your muscles on your body and try not to move at all. With this rather large tip, I hope you all have a good night!
